Village Hall Community Group

The first meeting of this Group was held at the Village Hall on Thursday 30th April 2015 where 31 people attended. A general discussion regarding the way forward and proposed events took place.

Several people volunteered to investigate proposed events and report back. Following this interesting discussion, a selection of music was played and followed by tea and biscuits.

The highlight of the afternoon was a performance by the Hall’s own Choir, “Harmony Rocks” and this was very well received.

The purpose of this group is to support and foster the Community aspect of the Village and provide a few events throughout the year which are regarded as enjoyable and popular. A number of “Drop in” meetings have been planned and all residents and friends are welcome to come along for a chat, maybe discuss future events or activities and have a cup of tea and biscuits in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

There will be no formal Committee, with future activity being investigated and planned by volunteers who establish a requirement from the drop-in discussions.

Three dates have been booked for “Drop-in” meetings, to be held in the Committee room at the Hall on 28th May, 23rd July and 17th September 2015.

A Christmas Party is planned for 11th December.

In addition, since the inaugural meeting a number of events are planned. A Cream Tea is now booked for 18th June at Clavells Restaurant, Kimmeridge at 3.30 and tickets are on sale at £4.50 per person available from Gill Salter or Eileen Wright. Numbers are limited and only a few tickets remain.

A proposed coach visit may take place in July and Gloria Warrington is planning this, and a Theatre trip is being investigated by Laurence Burrows for August.

Brian Rowlatt has agreed a coach trip to Exeter in November for the Christmas Market.

So if you fancy a chat and a cup of tea, or wish to learn more of the above proposals then “Drop in” to the Committee room at any of our meetings which start at 2 pm.
